APC Aspirant Questions Alleged Absence Of Primary In Jalingo Constituency

An aspirant for the Jalingo, Yorro and Zing Federal Constituency seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Leah Solomon, has raised concerns over the alleged failure of the party to conduct direct primary elections across the constituency.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Solomon said party members, supporters, and stakeholders who gathered at designated centres across Jalingo, Yorro, and Zing local government areas were left stranded for hours without any sign of the exercise commencing.

The APC aspirant said she monitored activities in several wards and centres within the constituency and observed that there was no visible accreditation of voters, voting process, or distribution of electoral materials as expected for the primary election.

She described the situation as unfortunate and warned that it could create confusion, disappointment, and uncertainty among party faithful who turned out peacefully to participate in the process.

“Party members and supporters waited for several hours at designated locations without the commencement of any electoral activity,” the statement said.

Solomon called on the leadership of the APC at all levels to clarify the situation and stressed the need for fairness, transparency, and confidence-building within the party.

She reaffirmed her commitment to democratic principles, internal party democracy, and peaceful political participation.

The aspirant also urged her supporters and APC members in the constituency to remain calm and law-abiding pending official communication from the party leadership.
