Appraise Tinubu’s Reforms

Nigerians across the country’s geo-political zones and political parties are sharply divided over President Bola Tinubu’s performance in the first half of his four-year tenure. While his supporters assert that he saved the country from economic collapse and enthroned good governance through various reforms in key sectors, his critics say that nothing has changed, except more hardships for the citizens. Tinubu Has Failed To Tackle Insecurity, Revive Economy – CUPP Spokesman

Comrade Mark Adebayo, the spokesperson of Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has described the Tinubu administration’s performance as catastrophic.

“In the area of security, and as it relates to the economy, it is a catastrophic regime. In terms of good governance, it is zero; in terms of security he is not there still; there is no good leadership in every issue bedeviling Nigeria,” he said.

According to Adebayo, Nigeria had four issues challenging it before the Tinubu administration came on board: bad economy, insecurity, high rate of unemployment and corruption.
“He has not addressed any of these issues in his two years in office except hunger, insecurity and corruption has escalated.

“He is a failure, if I were to award a mark, I would give his leadership five per cent, because there is more hunger in the country, the economy is in crisis.

“More hunger, no employment opportunities, out of school children is almost doubling in his two years of being in office.

“He has scored just five per cent. The president promised Nigerians gain but he has given them pain. It has been more pain in the last two years, it will be more catastrophic and tragic should, by any means, the president returns for a second term in office.
“It will be terrible for this country; that is CUPP’s assessment of the two years’ presidency of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

President Rules Nigeria Like A Private Estate, Says Chiroma

From the opposition in Bauch State, the verdict is far harsher.
“Tinubu has done nothing,” declared Dayyabu Chiroma, a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi.

In a scathing critique, Chiroma accused the Tinubu administration of deepening poverty and mishandling the economy.

“Nigerians made a mistake by voting Tinubu, who is a businessman ruling the country like a private firm,” Chiroma said. “He removed fuel subsidy which put more Nigerians in poverty instead of lifting them out.”
Chiroma also lashed out at the administration’s rising debt levels.
“In just two years, he borrowed more than the debt profile he inherited. Power supply remains a mirage, insecurity and terrorism persist,” he added.

There Is Hunger, Anguish Everywhere – Okah

On his part, former Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Dr. Emmanuel Okah, has said there is no need celebrating the two years administration of President Bola Tinubu, until average Nigerians become happy and live good lives.

Okah, who is also former chief press secretary (CPS) to former Governor Peter Odili, disclosed this while speaking with LEADERSHIP Weekend in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
He said, “Tinubu as a governor was a brilliant man in my assessment. Tinubu as President has thrown us into hunger, pain and anguish. I don’t know whether we will come out of this during his administration, but I am worried that every day things are getting worse.

“So, I am not joyful about the administration of President Bola Tinubu until he brings that joy, gladness and good life to the average Nigerian. Until that is done, I will not rate him high at all.”

Nigeria Has Been Plunged Into Extreme Poverty – Kwara PDP Stalwart

A leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, Hon. AbdulRauph AbdulSalam has criticised President Bola Tinubu over what he called failed promises of the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.

“Two years into President Tinubu’s administration, Nigeria has been plunged into unprecedented insecurity and economic hardships, and extreme poverty,” he said.

AbdulSalam, who a member of the PDP Advisory Committee in Moro local government area of the state, added, “The worsening insecurity, ranging from killing, banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism, has been emboldened by President Tinubu’s apparent negligence and abdication of his constitutional duty.

“The country is bleeding, and the president’s inaction is a clear indication of his administration’s failure to prioritise the safety and security of Nigerians.

“The unpatriotic policies of the Tinubu administration have resulted in the collapse of the nation’s economy, fallen business empires, massive job losses, food scarcity, and extreme poverty. The once thriving industries are now shadows of their former selves, and the streets are filled with able-bodied youths who have lost hope in the system.

“Furthermore, the Tinubu administration is plagued by policy inconsistency and corruption. The subsidy removal, touted as a pivotal move to revamp Nigeria’s economy, has ironically become an empowerment tool for state governors and other political officeholders. The substantial increase in state and local government allocations has not translated to meaningful transformations at the grassroots level.
“It is imperative that Nigerians demand accountability from the president, their state governors, local government areas’ bosses and other serving political leaders. The era of impunity must end, and those entrusted with public funds must be compelled to utilise them for the betterment of the nation, not just to line their own pockets.

“Even the students’ loan policy, while seemingly beneficial, is a bondage solution that burdens innocent students with debt without guaranteeing job opportunities for repayment after graduation. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who enjoyed free education in Nigeria, is now subjecting Nigerian students to indebtedness before they have formal education. This is a clear case of hypocrisy and a betrayal of the trust reposed in him by the Nigerian people.

“The President’s desperate attempts to collapse and silence opposition political parties are a threat to our democratic norms and values. The APC’s attack on democracy is a clear indication of their fear of losing power in the next general elections,” he said.

Life Is Harder For Nigerians, Adamu Laments

A PDP stalwart and former chairman of the Committee on Justice and Privileges in the National Assembly, and member representing Birniwa/Guri/Kirkasamma Federal Constituency in Jigawa State, Hon. Abba Anas Adamu, has said the socioeconomic conditions of Nigerians have worsened under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He argued that none of the president’s reforms align with the realities on the ground.
Adamu recalled that upon assuming office, Tinubu announced the removal of fuel subsidy without proper consultation or even reviewing what he inherited.

“Nigerians will never forget this single action, which plunged them into untold hardship,” he said.
He maintained that since taking office, the APC-led government had consistently relied on palliatives.

“Is there any country that runs on palliatives? This shows that the president and his cabinet lack focus,” he stated. “To the best of my knowledge and many can testify, none of President Tinubu’s policies have not yielded positive results in the last two years. Even APC members know that Nigerians have not gained anything positive under this administration.

“It is evident that hunger, poverty, disease, misery, insecurity, corruption, nepotism, and other socio-economic crises are what Nigerians have endured in the last two years,” Adamu declared.
Even the president knows that as a result of his unfriendly policies, millions of Nigerians are not getting three basic meals daily, especially junior civil servants, who are grossly underpaid.

“Let me give you an example: When Dangote completed his refinery, many believed fuel prices would drop since it was now locally refined. But look at how the government insisted that Dangote must purchase Nigerian crude in dollars. Are retailers in Maiduguri or consumers in Kano, Port Harcourt, Lagos, and other parts of the country buying petrol in dollars? Does the federal government pay workers’ salaries in dollars? This petro-dollar policy is a clear example of a non-people-oriented policy,” Adamu stated.

“They claimed to have invested billions of Naira to revive Port Harcourt Refinery, see how it failed to work for three months, this is a sham.

“Nigeria has nothing to celebrate in Tinubu’s two-year anniversary, rather they should pray to Almighty God to show them the right way, and also ‘shine their eyes’ come 2027 and vote for the right persons at all levels,” he said.
