Army Subordinate To Democratic Governance, Says Commander

Commander, 13 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Akim Barracks, Calabar, the Cross River State capital, Brig. Gen. E. Okoro has reassured Nigerians of the Army’s loyalty and subordination to the country’s democratic governance.

In a welcome address to mark the army’s 160 years anniversary celebration 2023 public speaking engagement which took place at Government Secondary School,Akim yesterday in Càlabar, Okoro assured Nigerians of the military readiness to combat the security threat troubling the country in recent times.

He lauded the president Ahmed Bola Tinubu for providing unprecedented support for the military and encouragement of the efforts at combating prevailing security threats faced by the nation.

Lt. Col. A.A Adejolu who read Brig. General Okoro’s address, averred that with the  support, the army was ready to do everything within their to ensure that perpetrators of criminality are rid off from the society.

“On behalf of the Chief of Army Staff, Maj. Gen. T.A. Lagbaja deeply expresses our appreciation to the president, commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria for his assurances, unprecedented support for the military and encouragement of the efforts at combating security threats faced by our nation.

“On our part, our response to his excellency’s kind gesture is our unalloyed loyalty and subordination to democratic governance,” he maintained.

 

Okoro stated that the public speaking engagement visit across secondary schools in the country is among the series of activities earmarked for all formations and units to celebrate the birth of the Nigerian Army as a symbol of national unity.

 

In her remarks, principal of the Government Secondary School Akim, Mrs. Amayo Edet commended  the authorities of the Nigerian  Army for finding her school worthy  to  benefit from the army’s lecture.

 

Describing the engagement as educative, enlightening adding that she will encourage her outgoing students and her son to join the army.
