Arsenal are reportedly preparing to make Mikel Arteta one of the highest-paid managers in English football as negotiations over a new contract gather momentum.

The Spaniard, whose current deal expires at the end of next season, is expected to enter formal discussions upon his return from holiday.

Although no agreement has yet been finalised, reports suggest early talks have been positive and that both parties are optimistic about reaching a deal.

According to BBC Sport, Arsenal are considering offering Arteta a fresh three-year contract accompanied by a substantial salary increase.

Arteta currently earns around £10 million per season, with performance-related bonuses reportedly taking his earnings even higher following Champions League qualification.

Under the proposed terms, the Arsenal manager could move significantly closer to the earnings of elite managerial counterparts and potentially become the highest-paid coach in England following Pep Guardiola’s departure from Manchester City.

The development reflects Arsenal’s continued faith in Arteta, who has overseen a significant transformation since taking charge.

After inheriting a side struggling for consistency, the former Arsenal captain has rebuilt the squad, restored Champions League football and established the club among the Premier League’s leading contenders once again.

His emphasis on youth development, tactical organisation and long-term planning has earned widespread praise from supporters and football analysts alike.

Club executives are understood to view contract renewal as a priority, keen to secure managerial stability while continuing to pursue domestic and European success.

With negotiations progressing positively, many within football believe the question is no longer whether Arteta will renew his contract, but when the agreement will be officially announced.
