Arsenal forward Kai Havertz will be absent for Germany’s World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and Northern Ireland next month, according to the German Football Association’s (DFB) national team director, Rudi Voeller.

Havertz has been sidelined since sustaining a knee injury during a 1-0 victory at Manchester United earlier this month and did not feature in Arsenal’s win over Leeds United at the weekend.

“He certainly won’t make it; he has a knee injury. We are uncertain about the prognosis in the coming weeks, whether surgery will be necessary or if it will be treated conservatively,” Voeller informed German media at an event on Monday.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta mentioned last week that further time and tests were required to evaluate Havertz’s injury.

The 26-year-old was also unavailable for over three months due to a hamstring injury sustained in February. In response to Havertz’s absence, Arsenal signed forward Eberechi Eze on Saturday to strengthen their attack, alongside Gabriel Jesus, who is still recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained last season.
