Atoyebi Hails Adighije’s Impact, Cites Rigasa Electrification Milestone

The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), Jennifer Adighije, has been credited with restoring electricity to Rigasa community in Igabi local government area of Kaduna State, ending years of power outages that affected millions of residents.

In a statement marking her birthday, Bamidele Atoyebi, convener of the BAT Ideological Group, said the intervention in Rigasa has reconnected over three million people to the national grid and revived economic activities in the area.

Atoyebi described the project as a major achievement of Adighije’s leadership, noting that it has inspired more than 300 communities to seek similar interventions from the NDPHC.

He said the power restoration reflected a leadership style focused on practical impact and problem solving within Nigeria’s power sector.

According to him, the NDPHC under Adighije has also recorded operational and financial improvements, including the clearance of 110 containers at Onne Port, Rivers State, which he said saved the company more than N20 billion in customs duties and port charges.

He added that the company restored two generating units in Calabar and Omotosho, Ogun State, contributing about 230 megawatts to the national grid, while also introducing digital inventory systems to reduce procurement costs.

Atoyebi further stated that the company recovered four million dollars from Togo’s CEET and secured a payment arrangement with Eko Disco worth N500 million monthly, alongside ongoing efforts to recover over N100 billion tied to investments with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

He said several electrification projects have also been completed in institutions, including Borno State University, the College of Agriculture in Maiduguri, and communities such as Orogun in Delta State.

The statement noted that Adighije introduced reforms aimed at improving transparency and efficiency, including the creation of a price benchmarking desk to guide procurement processes.

Atoyebi, who also serves as National Coordinator of Accountability and Policy Monitoring, described Adighije as a key figure in advancing the current administration’s power sector objectives, adding that her leadership demonstrates the impact of result oriented management in public institutions.

He said her work in Kaduna State and other parts of the country has helped restore confidence in public service delivery, particularly in the power sector.
