Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has appointed Dr Abubakar Abdullahi Kuso, the Dan Wadatan Nupe, as the new Chairman of the Management Committee of Niger Tornadoes Football Club.
The appointment takes immediate effect, according to a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim.
Governor Bago expressed confidence in Dr Kuso’s ability to reposition the Nigeria Premier Football League side through competent leadership and proactive management.
Congratulating the new chairman on his appointment, the governor said he was optimistic that Dr Kuso would deploy his wealth of experience to restore Niger Tornadoes to their former glory.
He also urged members of the club’s management committee to give the new chairman their full support and work collectively towards achieving sustained success for the Minna-based club.
Dr Kuso succeeds Engineer Ibrahim Dada, who stepped down from the position to pursue his political ambition of contesting for the Bosso/Paikoro Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
Beyond football administration, Dr Kuso serves as the Executive Director of Planning and Design at the Upper Niger River Basin Development Authority, where he oversees the planning and design of development projects across Niger and Kaduna states, as well as the Federal Capital Territory.
His appointment comes at a crucial time for Niger Tornadoes as the club looks to strengthen its administrative structure and improve its fortunes ahead of the new football season.
