Bandits have injured a young man and snatched his motorcycle in Unguwar Kasarane village on the Kaduna-Abuja highway, causing fear among the residents of the community.

The victim, identified as Isa, was reportedly attacked while he went into the bush to gather firewood.

Residents said the attackers, who have been terrorising the area, routinely target villagers working in farmlands or forest areas, dispossessing them of motorcycles and other valuables.

A community leader, who spoke on condition of anonymity for security reasons, said the situation had made daily survival activities increasingly dangerous for locals.

“Bandits are now focusing on people going to their farms or into the bush. Just last Sunday, they attacked a young man, Isa, from the western part of Kasarane and took his motorcycle,” he said.

He added that the victim sustained injuries during the attack and is currently receiving treatment in a hospital.

According to him, the attackers do not spare victims, whether the motorcycles are new or old, and often resort to violence when resisted.
