The lifeless bodies of the victims were discovered in the forest by the military during a search operation on Monday, March 24, 2025.

Surubu Community Development Association has condemned the killing of the three members of their community identified as Obadiah Dangana, Emmanuel Moses (popularly known as Bobbling Guy), and Danjuma Sardauna, all from Kusheka and Kabene communities in Kumana Chiefdom.

The association’s National Public Relations Officer, Comrade Caleb Magaji who confirmed the killings in a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday, described the incident as tragic and deeply disturbing.

Magaji disclosed that the victims were kidnapped by bandits on March 22, 2025, while going about their daily activities.

The National PRO of the association said the tragic incident is not isolated, maintaining that, “Our land, alongside other communities in Kumana and Kauru Local Government, continues to suffer from recurring attacks. Many of our people remain in captivity in the forest, even after huge sums have been paid as ransom.”

The association called on the government and security agencies to scale up their efforts in restoring peace to the land.

“We call on the government and security agencies at all levels to intensify their efforts in restoring peace to our land by bringing the perpetrators to justice and securing the release of those still held captive,” Magaji said.

He acknowledged the government’s efforts, particularly the recent establishment of a Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Kauru local government.

Magaji however, urged the authorities to set up military checkpoints in Kusheka, Kabene, and Geshere to enhance security and ensure a quicker response to attacks.

“The frequent attacks on many communities, especially in Kumana, are deeply concerning and require stronger commitment from the government at all levels,” the statement continued.

“We remain dedicated to advocating for peace, security, and justice for our people. We urge all community members to stay vigilant and cooperate with security agencies in efforts to restore peace and normalcy.”

The Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Mansir Hassan said, “I will get back to you” when contacted.
