The executive council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gamawa Ward of Gamawa local government area of Bauchi State has suspended indefinitely, the national ex-officio of the party, Sirajo Dada, over alleged anti-party activities.
Gamawa Ward APC executives also accused Dada of greed and hoarding of resources meant to be used to campaign for the success of the party’s candidates in the build up to both presidential and National Assembly elections and gubernatorial and state assembly elections. Instead, according to them, he used same to campaign for candidates of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).
Addressing a press conference at the Gamawa local government APC secretariat yesterday, the deputy chairman, Gamawa Ward, Musa Garba Mohammed, said the 18-member ward executive of the party unanimously passed a vote of no confidence on Sirajo Dada.
“We observed with utmost dismay that Sirajo Dada worked against the success of the party in Gamawa local government. He engaged in anti-party activities during the elections and was caught buying votes for the PRP. Further investigations showed that most of his closest allies worked for the opposition parties.
“In view of the foregoing, we hereby pass a vote of no confidence on Sirajo Dada and suspend him indefinitely as a member of our party with immediate effect in line with Article 21 (2) offences against the party (II) anti-party activities or any conduct which is likely to embarrass or has adverse effect on the party or bring it to hatred, contempt, ridicule or disrepute,” he said.
Confirming this development, Gamawa APC chairman, Ahmed Saleh Supa, said the party had received a formal decision of the executives of Gamawa Ward against Dada in line with laid down rules governing operations of the party.
He said same would be transmitted to the Bauchi State APC chairman, Babayo Aliyu Misau, for onward communication to the national leadership of the party.
