Bauchi State government has kicked off the 2025 Christmas food and clothing distribution to bring joy, dignity and support to orphans and vulnerable children in the state.

At the ceremony yesterday at the BASOVCA office, the state’s first lady, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed, expressed appreciation to Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for his consistent commitment to improving the welfare of women, children and vulnerable groups under his visionary leadership.

Represented by the commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, Dr Lydia Haruna Tsammani, the first lady was also commended for her compassion and motherly guidance, which continue to inspire initiatives that uplift vulnerable households across Bauchi State.

A’isha Bala further applauded the Chairperson of BASOVCA, Hajiya Yalwa Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, and the agency’s staff for their dedication and teamwork in ensuring that no child is left behind, especially during festive seasons.

She noted that the spirit of Christmas reminds society of the values of love, compassion, generosity, and kindness, values that form the foundation of a peaceful and caring community.

According to her, the distribution exercise goes beyond providing food and clothing; it is about giving hope and restoring confidence to children across the state.

The first lady called on government institutions, caregivers, community leaders, and development partners to continue working together to protect and empower vulnerable children. She urged all stakeholders involved in the distribution to ensure that the items reached the intended beneficiaries in all 20 local government areas without discrimination, delay, or diversion.

Earlier, the chairperson of BASOVCA, Hajiya Yelwa Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, said the distribution reaffirms the collective commitment to ensuring that every child, regardless of background, experiences the joy and spirit of Christmas.
