Bauchi State government, through the Ministry of Education, has reaffirmed its commitment to prioritising education infrastructure and the provision of learning materials in public schools.

This, it said, was in line with the implementation of the National Policy on Safety, Security and Violence-free Schools.

The state commissioner for Education, Hon. Abdulkadir Ibrahim, stated this when he led a monitoring and evaluation team to inspect public schools in three local government areas yesterday.

He explained that the exercise was aimed at assessing the state of teaching and learning, with a view to ensuring access to quality education for both teachers and students in Bauchi North and Central Senatorial Districts.

According to him, the routine monitoring would further enhance students’ enrolment and retention in public schools across the state.

Speaking to journalists, during a visit to Government Science Secondary School, Gamawa, the commissioner disclosed that the state government, under the leadership of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad, has commenced the construction of a perimeter fence around the school to safeguard facilities and protect students from potential security threats.

He noted that the school, established in 1982 during the administration of the late Governor Abubakar Tatari Ali, is in need of renovation and additional infrastructure.
