Bauchi State government is set to commence the enrolment of the vulnerable across the state into the federal government conditional cash transfer programme.
The state commissioner for humanitarian affairs and disaster management, Hon Hajara Yakubu Wanka, stated this at the training of local government cash transfer facilitators. She said the aim is to cushion the hardship being faced by Nigerians.

Hajara Wanka who was represented by the permanent secretary in the ministry, Shuaibu Alaji Muhammad, said the programme is part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to engage individuals, communities and groups across board.
Wanka said the aim of organising the training was to equip the facilitators with requisite knowledge of the operation.

She said since the inception of the programme in 2014 the state has never received demands of the poor households that will benefit from the bimonthly stipend of N25,000 like now.
According to her, over 100,000 out of the over 200,000 households shortlisted have no bank accounts hence the need for them to open accounts to start receiving their stipends.

On his part, the enrolment officer of the programme, Musa Muhammad Sani said the programme which was earlier suspended is being implemented in 29 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Sani said Bauchi being one of the six non benefiting states those enrolled will start receiving their payment from the federal government after the enrolment process is completed.

Speaking, some of the participants, Rabi Muhammad Maina and Danladi Dan Abdullah who expressed happiness for the opportunity given to them, promised to work hard for the programme to achieve success.
Over 200,000 households in the state are to receive the N25,000 bimonthly stipends in the first phase of the programme for three months.
