The Bayelsa State Government, in partnership with Nilayo Sports Management Limited, has announced the inaugural Yenagoa City International 10KM Race, set to take place on Saturday, April 4, 2026. This landmark event aims to showcase Bayelsa as a prime destination for global sports tourism.
The race, themed “The Reveal,” seeks to highlight the rich human and cultural potential of Bayelsa to an international audience. Participants will embark on a 10-kilometer journey starting from Opolo Roundabout at 9:30 a.m., traversing scenic routes of Yenagoa, and concluding at Peace Park Square.
A vibrant post-race concert featuring top A-list artists will follow at the finish line, promising a festive blend of sports and entertainment.
Registration is now open online at www.yenagoacity10kmrace.com. Physical forms are available at the Sports Department Office, Ministry of Sports, Sports Complex, Ovom, Yenagoa.
Race bibs and kits can be collected at Peace Park Square between March 30 and April 3, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily.
The event is currently pursuing World Athletics accreditation, ensuring adherence to the highest international standards.
