Beach Volleyball: 29 Teams Battle For President Cup

A total of 29 beach volleyball teams are battling for various prizes on offer at the 2024 edition of the President Beach volleyball Cup competition holding at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.

The 8 days long competition is expected to see various teams battling for superiority against one another.

Speaking on the sideline of the opening games, the technical director of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Martins Melandi, said the competition will also serve as preparation for the continental’s Olympic qualifying championship coming up later in the year.

He said Nigeria has reached the qualifiers finals twice but could not make it, expressing confidence that Nigeria will make it this time around with the level of preparations in place.According to him, 11 female and 18 male teams are participating in the President Cup.

In the junior category, he said, eight junior boys and six junior girls are taking part, while in the senior category, 10 senior boys and five senior women are participating.

The competition which is being played during the day and under flood light, he said, will unearth talents while the winners will be rewarded with prizes at the end of the competition.
