The Benue government ordered all factions of the state chapter of Sport’s Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) to halt all plans to conduct elections with immediate effect.

The commissioner for youth, sports and creativity, Terkimbi Ikyange, gave the order while

expressing dismay at the continued existence of factions in the state chapter of SWAN.

He said the continued factionalisation of the sports reporting body has greatly affected the coverage of sporting activities in the state.

He explained that the decision to suspend elections planned by both factions of the body was to allow him time to wade into the matter with the view to resolving it in the interest of the association and sports reportage in the state.

He appreciated Sports Writers in the State for their understanding and expressed the hope that the two factions will abide by his directive without compromise.
