As preparations intensify for the 2025 Christian pilgrimage, the Bauchi State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board has cautioned intending pilgrims to remain orderly and disciplined as their journey to the Holy Land draws nearer.
The executive secretary of the board, Ibrahim Mohammed Gwallang, gave the charge while declaring open an orientation exercise for pilgrims at the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) premises in Bauchi.
He said that proper orientation was crucial to ensuring smooth operations and a hitch-free pilgrimage.
Gwallang said the exercise was designed to adequately prepare pilgrims for the journey, emphasising the need for safety, discipline and strict compliance with laid-down regulations.
Our correspondent reports that travel bags and uniforms were distributed to the intending pilgrims to enhance their comfort, safety and overall well-being.
The 2025 team leader, Elder Haruna Mandabs, urged pilgrims to conduct themselves lawfully and responsibly, reminding them that they would be ambassadors of Bauchi State and Nigeria throughout the pilgrimage.
He stressed the importance of total obedience to rules and full cooperation with officials to ensure a smooth and successful exercise.
On his part, senior special assistant to the governor on Christian Religious Affairs, Pastor Zakka Luka Magaji, commended Governor Bala Mohammed for his consistent support and commitment to the welfare of Christian pilgrims in the state.
The orientation also featured sensitisation sessions by officials of key security and regulatory agencies, including the NDLEA, Nigerian Immigration Service, Department of State Services and the medical team, who educated pilgrims on security, documentation, health requirements and general conduct during the pilgrimage.
