It is official. Netflix has announced that Season 4 of the globally popular Bridgerton series will focus on Benedict.

Benedict Bridgerton is the second and artistically inclined son of Viscountess Violet Bridgerton in the Victorian-set historical novels of American romance novelist Julia Quinn. The viscountess birthed eight children with her beloved but deceased husband.

Shonda Rhimes bought the rights to the screen adaptation of the series after reading the eight-part book series.

For those who may not understand the fans elation at the news that it’s Benedict’s time to shine onscreen, based on the Quinn’s book series, Benedict’s story was the next in line following Anthony’s, whose story succeeded Daphne – Bridgerton’s first daughter. Benedict was succeeded by Colin, Francesca’s, Eloise, Hyacinth and Gregory. However, in the screen adaptation series, Colin’s story preceded Benedict’s.

Likewise, fans of Quinn’s book stories, are uncertain, even apprehensive as to how much of his storyline will be changed by the series writers. Fans have been shocked by the character who seemed to be the most reserved of his siblings having a threesome in the last season. This was after being teased to be gay in the first season.

They are however hopeful that the second Bridgerton son will be casted alongside his book’s main female character and love, Sophie (whose story reads like Cinderella’s) owing to this particular detail in the Netflix trailer that announced the Bridgerton 4.

The trailer opened with a camera focused on a door that opened to reveal Luke Thompson who plays Benedict Bridgerton, offering him a suit-bag that holds his costume for the Bridgerton Masquerade where Benedict met Sophie.

Netizens couldn’t hold in their excitement – in spite of the fact that they might have to wait till 2026 for it.

“As soon as they mentioned the masquerade ball, it was obvious it was Benedict,” said @samfisher6606

“Finally! I have been waiting for Benedict’s season. Can’t wait for Sophie’s entrance,” @michellehawk282

“I loved Sophie in the book, can’t wait to see her and Benedict (the show version is a lot better than the book version,” @maya19989

“Oh good. Maybe now, I’ll have a reason to care about Benedict. I’ve always loved his interactions with his siblings, but his character development has been confusing at best,” @MeganTheron18

“Do Not Mess With His Story. Stick To The Book. We want that wonderful Cinderella-like story for him and Sophie. Do not mess with the storyline,” said @akritibajpai.07
