Buhari Was A Patriot – Northern Democrats

The League of Northern Democrats (LND) has said former President Muhammadu Buhari will be remembered as a patriot.

LND said Buhari served with the best of his ability and with the best of intentions for the country.

The group, in a statement, said it received the news of Buhari’s demise on Sunday in a London hospital, with profound sadness.

LND said Buhari’s death is a monumental loss to the nation, considering his legacy of service in and out of Uniform as Head of State and later, as President of the nation.

A statement signed by the national publicity secretary of LND, Dr Ladan Salihu, said

“History will remember him as a leader whose legacy will be subjected to scrutiny and interpretations.

“Whatever the interpretations, we are all united in the belief that President Muhammadu Buhari was a patriot. He was a soldier who put his life on the line during the civil war to help keep Nigeria one. He served his country to the best of his ability and with the best of intentions.”

The league extended condolences to his family, the Government and people of Katsina State and Nigerians.

“LND wishes to convey our deepest condolences to the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the loss of his predecessor, his friend and political ally. May Allah SWTA forgive Muhammadu Buhari and grant him Aljannatul Firdaws,” the LND said.
