Burna Boy Reunites With Shakira Ahead Of FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show

Afrobeats star Burna Boy has reunited with Colombian singer Shakira ahead of their performance at the inaugural FIFA World Cup final halftime show.

The Grammy-winning artist shared a video and photos from rehearsals on his X account on Friday, showing the duo exchanging hugs, smiles and laughter as they prepared for Sunday’s historic show at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, United States.

Captioning the post, Burna Boy wrote: “Sunday Prep! @shakira See you at the @FIFAWorldCup Final! Dai dai, ikó, dale, allez, let’s go!”

The behind-the-scenes clips captured both artistes in casual outfits as they greeted each other outside production trailers before continuing rehearsals for the highly anticipated performance.

FIFA had earlier announced that Burna Boy and Shakira would perform Dai Dai, the official anthem of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, during the tournament’s first-ever Super Bowl-style halftime show.

The governing body is also expected to extend the traditional 15-minute halftime interval to accommodate the entertainment segment, with broadcasters likely to air about 30 minutes of combined match analysis and live performances.

The halftime show will feature an 11-minute performance led by Burna Boy and Shakira, alongside appearances by BTS, Madonna, Justin Bieber, renowned conductor Gustavo Dudamel, the PS22 Chorus with Coldplay, as well as Sesame Street and The Muppets.

In addition to the entertainment, FIFA said the show will spotlight global education initiatives designed to support children worldwide.

Sunday’s World Cup final will see reigning Copa América champions Argentina take on European champions Spain.

Burna Boy and Shakira previously performed Dai Dai during the tournament’s opening ceremony in Mexico City, where the song was officially unveiled as the anthem of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
