In a business and entrepreneurship townhall training with over 500 corps members at the Calabar Municipal Council Hall recently, Melody enjoined the budding youth to embrace skills and competencies that will allow them become employers of labour rather than wait for white collar jobs that may not be readily available.

According to Melody, it was important for the serving corps members to seize the opportunity of merging skills with education for their personal and nation’s benefits.

“When there is no opportunity, it is important to create one and in fact, entrepreneurship have the capability to grow Nigeria’s economy through employment creation, thereby reducing the crime rate in our society,” he said.

Melody advised the corps members further, “we should all be motivated by becoming the positive change we want in Nigeria through contributing meaningfully to the socio-economic development of our fatherland in which business entrepreneurship is a sure pathway.”

For his part, NYSC State Director for Cross River State, Andrew Zemoh, who was present at the programme, commended the Stability and Sustenance team for leading the charge to motivate and empower youths in the state.

“We are happy to host the Stability and Sustenance programme in Calabar which gives corps members opportunity to acquire hand-on skills and training which encourages self-reliance and entrepreneurship for the greater good of Nigeria,” Zemoh stated.

The highlight of the programme was the presentation of a sewing machine to Abo Emmanuel, a serving corps member who is also a fashion entrepreneur alongside other monetary grants presented to other corps members.

With the conclusion of the Stability and Sustenance NYSC partnership programme in Calabar, the focus will now shift to Abuja which is set to play host to the very first Stability and Sustenance Summit scheduled for the International Conference Centre on February 1, 2024.
