The chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Borno State chapter, Most Reverend John Bogna Bakeni, has felicitated with Muslims in the state on the occasion of the Eid-el-fitr.
The CAN chairman who is the Auxiliary Bishop of Maiduguri Catholic Dioceses, in his message made available to journalists yesterday in Maiduguri, rejoiced with the Ummah and prayed that Allah accept their acts and supplications.
He said, “On behalf of the entire Christian community in Borno State, the Christian Association of Nigeria, Borno State chapter, felicitates with the Muslim Ummah in Borno State and beyond as they celebrate the Eid-el- fitri festival which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
“We rejoice with them and pray that the blessings of God will be upon them now and always. May Allah accept their prayers and supplications.
“Ramadan is a time of self-reflection and a renewed commitment to living a life of piety and peace. It teaches us the importance of sacrifice, compassion, and generosity towards others, especially the less privileged in the society.
“As we mark this important occasion, we must take the opportunity to reflect on the spiritual lessons of Ramadan and values it embodies which are love and mutual understanding for a peaceful society, “ he said.
The CAN chairman enjoined all to continue to pray for peace and prosperity in Borno State and the country at large.
In the same vein, the Nigerian Union of Journalists ( NUJ ) Borno State Council has also felicitated with the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of the Eid-el-Fitr.
A statement issued by secretary of NUJ in the state, Alhaji Ali Chiroma Ibrahim said; “On behalf of the entire working journalists in the state, we urge the Muslim faithful to at all times strive to internalise the lessons learnt during the Ramadan period and extend it to the remaining months.
“The NUJ leadership calls on the Muslim Ummah across the state to use the occasion of Eid-el-fitr to offer prayers for the full restoration of peace to the state and collectively work towards the making Borno great again, pray for the success of our leaders and support them accordingly for the collective good of all as the period calls for sober reflection and unity from all people irrespective of their religious affiliation.”
