The Nigerian Cancer Society (NCS) said it has formally petitioned key security and law enforcement agencies over alleged false cancer claims and donation-related misconduct involving social media personality, Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO.

In a statement signed by its national director of publicity, Hon. Bashir Mohammed Ranccas, on Friday, the Society confirmed that petitions were submitted to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) headquarters, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Inspector General of Police, and the EFCC zonal office in Wuse II, Abuja.

According to NCS, the action became necessary following heightened public concerns and the organisation’s responsibility to uphold “accountability, transparency, and integrity” within Nigeria’s cancer advocacy and patient support space.

The Society recalled that it had earlier condemned the alleged conduct, describing it as unethical and damaging to ongoing efforts to support cancer patients and strengthen public trust in cancer-related interventions.

“Given the seriousness of the allegations and their potential impact on public trust, NCS has deemed it necessary to escalate the matter for thorough investigation in the interest of the general public and to prevent any negative precedent,” the statement read.

The Society stressed that cancer remains a major public health challenge requiring sincerity, compassion, and responsible handling. Any form of exploitation, the Society warned, undermines the credibility of genuine patients and discourages critical support for those truly in need.

Reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding the integrity of cancer advocacy in the country, NCS said it will continue to work closely with relevant authorities to ensure transparency, justice, and accountability in the case
