Women’s History Month is a great time to not only celebrate the successes of women all over the world, but also to reflect on the work that is yet to be done. But there are many women who keep pushing for progress all-year round, whether through their own personal achievements in their fields or through their work fighting for the rights of women.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Financial Accounting from Obafemi Awolowo University, and master’s degree in Business Administration from the Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh.

 

Tinuade attended Strategic Financial Analysis for Business Evaluation Program at the Harvard Business School in 2015. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Nigeria; Institute of Management Consultants, United States; and Institute of Professional Financial Managers, London.

 

She is also an Associate Member of Risk Management Association of Nigeria; Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria; and the Institute of Directors, Nigeria. In 2020, She was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy in Financial Management & Entrepreneurship from the ICON University of Management Science & Technology, Benin Republic.

 

Tinuade is an accomplished professional and business executive leader in the energy industry with over 22 years extensive experience in financial management, financial reporting, treasury management and particularly over 14 years’ experience in leadership roles.

 

As a business leader, Dr Tinuade constantly provides innovative solutions to economic and energy related challenges in Nigeria, sub–Saharan Africa and the rest of the world. She is passionate to see Nigeria access energy and power supply uninterruptedly. She is a strong advocate of renewable energy and believes energy should be affordable, reliable, and sustainable. She presently sits as a member of power- subcommittee for the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

 

She assumed office in March 2021, becoming the first woman managing director of Eko Electricity Distribution Company after taking over from Adeoye Fadeyibi, who was in charge for four years and she gained recognition same year and was named top 3 most influential personality in Nigeria power sector and in 2022 she was listed among 5 most influential women in Nigeria by Yessiey magazine.

 

Tinuade initially worked Within the banking sector, while she led different roles and at a time the relationship manager in Chartered Bank in 2001. She later joined Access Bank in 2003 where she gained extensive experience in branch operations, customer service, cash management and retail credit management.

 

She joined West Power Gas in 2013 as the Chief Financial Officer, transitioning from Vanguard Energy Source after a 9-year tenure at Access Bank. With a background deeply rooted in finance and a relentless passion for driving economic growth, she assumed the role of CFO at West Power & Gas and was selected to be part of the leadership team for the acquisition of EKO Disco in 2013.

 

As part of the Biden-Harris administration’s efforts to advance the 2023 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) theme of “Creating a Resilient and Sustainable Future for All”. She was invited to The Women in the Sustainable Economy (WISE) Initiative was launched by Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris,

 

Her positive efforts in the Nigeria power sector earned her Nigeria books of records award and also Africa Safety Award for Excellence (AfriSAFE) in 2022 as CEO of the year.
