Christians in Ilorin, Kwara State, yesterday marked Palm Sunday, the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem over two thousand years ago.
The Christian faithful trooped out in large numbers to participate in the Palm Sunday procession, which took off from Saint Barnabas Cathedral, Sabo Oke, Ilorin.
The procession which lasted over four hours passed through Murtala Mohammed road, Maraba, Amilegbe, Ipata, Opo-Malu, part of Emir`s road, Taiwo road, Unity road, Post Office area, and terminated at the starting point for benediction.
Another procession took off at First Baptist Church, Surulere, Ilorin, moved through the State General Hospital, Upper Taiwo road, and linked up with other Christians at Unity junction for onward movement to Saint Barnabas Cathedral, Sabo-Oke, Ilorin.
The participants who held palm fronds were seen singing, dancing, and shouting “Hosannah” in a triumphant celebration of Jesus Christ.
The chairman of the Christians Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the state, Bishop Sunday Adewole called on Christians to be humble, embrace peace and love themselves and their neighbours as demonstrated by Jesus Christ.
Adewole urged Nigerians to be alive to their responsibilities and renew their faith to serve God wholeheartedly.
