The Zion Prayer Movement Outreach has condemned a malicious AI-generated video circulating on YouTube that falsely claims its spiritual director, Evangelist Ebuka Obi, was recently attacked in Anambra State.
The church describes the video as a wicked fabrication intended to instil fear and disrupt its upcoming prayer crusade.
“This fake video incorrectly asserted that the evangelist was attacked by an armed gang following the successful commissioning of a psychiatric hospital in Aguleri, Anambra State, which numerous dignitaries, including Governor Charles Soludo attended,” it said.
In a statement issued in Lagos by Evangelist Obi’s media adviser, Dan Aibangbe, the church said contrary to the fabricated claims, the ceremony in Aguleri was a resounding success, with no reported disturbances.
Aibangbe said the evangelist and his entourage peacefully departed the venue around 4 p.m. and travelled safely to Owerri, Imo State, arriving without any incident.
He emphasised that the fake video is the work of paid mischief-makers and a desperate attempt to sow fear and uncertainty among the faithful, particularly those travelling from the diaspora for the upcoming prayer crusade.
The media adviser urged all congregation members to disregard the video and attend the crusade without fear, assuring them of their safety and a spiritually uplifting experience.
“Anambra and Aguleri remain safe havens for worshippers and visitors alike, and no harassment or issues will affect anyone attending the crusade. All enemies of the Church spreading falsehoods will be defeated and put to shame by the power of God,” Aibangbe stated.
He further urged the public to verify information from credible sources, refrain from sharing unverified content, remain vigilant, and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
