Evangelist Bisi Akinyefa of the Christ Apostolic Church, Solution Land, Ile-Ife, has called on politicians to develop genuine passion for the welfare of the masses to achieve meaningful leadership goals.
Speaking at the ordination service of ministers held at the Worldwide Intercessory Prayer Ministry (Bethel House) campground in Ogbaagba, Ede, Osun State, the cleric noted that leadership without compassion for citizens would not yield positive results.
Ordained ministers at the event included Pastors Olabiyi Damilare, Claudius Oyelami, Dr Adeolu Ajibade Adeyemo, Mrs Ogundiran Bolaji, Dr Lydia Funmilola Adeyemo, Elder Obidiran Adeniji, Deacon Oguntola Peter, Deaconesses Obidiran Mary, Adejare Oluwakemi and Adewale Oluwafisayo.
“Politics is good, but the way it is being practised is not encouraging. Christians must take responsibility to help shape the system in a way that pleases God and benefits society,” Akinyefa said.
He however, charged newly ordained ministers to remain steadfast in faith, prayer and the teachings of the Bible in order to succeed despite global challenges.
Also, the General Overseer of the Worldwide Intercessory Prayer Ministry, Rev (Mrs) Funmilayo Olabiyi, charged the newly ordained ministers to remain faithful to their divine calling and the responsibilities entrusted to them.
The cleric also called on church leaders, particularly General Overseers to seek divine guidance ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State.
She urged them to pray for the emergence of credible leaders, warning against undue influence from political actors.
Meanwhile, Pastor (Dr) Adeolu Adeyemo, who spoke on behalf of the other ministers, gave all the glory to God for the grace bestowed on them and prayed for the capacity and capability to carry out the work of God.
