The Southern Kaduna Coalition has commended President Bola Tinubu for appointing General Christopher Gwabin Musa as minister of defence.
The group also commended Kaduna State governor, Senator Uba Sani, for what it described as his strategic role in securing the Musa’s nomination.
The convener of the coalition, Jonah Bonet Pompo, at a press conference yesterday, in Kaduna, said the president had chosen “a man of honour, competence and proven performance.”
According to him, General Musa is a trusted figure at a time when Nigeria is navigating a delicate security transition.
He praised Governor Uba Sani for demonstrating “empathy, courage and strategic thinking” since taking office in 2023.
Pompo said the synergy between Tinubu, Uba Sani and Musa—especially during Musa’s tenure as Chief of Defence Staff—helped stabilise several communities and strengthen local security responses.
He argued that the new appointment was both timely and strategic, noting that Musa’s patriotism and capacity were already well established.
“With General Musa now at the federal level, we are confident that this synergy will deepen and yield even more impactful results,” he said.
The coalition urged Nigerians across political, ethnic and religious divides to support both Tinubu and Uba Sani, saying leadership requires vision, sacrifice and resilience.
It noted that while some of the president’s reforms appeared tough, signs of economic stability were emerging.
The group added that Kaduna State was experiencing renewed confidence due to Uba Sani’s inclusive governance and people-centred policies.
It stressed that security remained the foundation of development and expressed optimism that Musa’s appointment would enhance intelligence sharing, military readiness and community-level security initiatives.
“Nigeria is safer when leaders work together,” the coalition said, reaffirming its support for the Tinubu and Uba Sani administrations.
It urged Nigerians to unite behind the nation’s leadership and contribute to national progress.
