Coalition Faults Sales Of Survey Offices In States

The Coalition of Civil Society Groups on Efficiency in Governance has decried the alleged infractions in the sales of federal government survey offices in some federation states.

Led by Comrade Danesi Momoh, the coalition blamed the leadership of the Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation for the lapses.

He said the Surveyor-General Adebomeyin Abdulganiyu should explain to Nigerians how the government offices and lands in Bompai, Kano, were sold for N250 million in July 2024. N200 million of the sum was used to develop the land based on a PPP arrangement with the contractor.
The coalition also queried the sales of OSGOF lands at Zoo Road in Kano, Imo State and Kwara State Field Office.

It warned against what it termed “another fraudulent proceeding towards the sale of the Lagos Headquarters of the Survey Office” using the same orchestrated template as what transpired in Kano and the rest of the federation’s states.

The group cautioned Abdulganiyu against abuse of office, saying no public officer in Nigeria is allowed by law to operate with impunity.

It asked the government to investigate the surveyor-general‘s activities and act on alleged gross administrative incompetence, abuse of office, and illegal sale of public assets such as landed properties when such wrongdoings have been established.

Momoh also raised posers over frequent foreign trips at the expense of taxpayers‘ money.

He said the penchant for overseas trips was against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu‘s directive to all ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).
