Provost of the Aminu Saleh College of Education (ASCOE), Azare, Prof. Asabe Sadiya Mohammed, has commended Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for approving the commencement of processes toward the implementation of the dual mandate in the institution.

The provost said the governor approved the forwarding of the proposed law for the implementation of the dual mandate for legislative action after legal review and input by the Ministry of Justice.

She explained that the bill has since been transmitted to the Bauchi State House of Assembly, where it has passed first and second readings, while the third reading is expected when the Assembly resumes plenary.

According to her, the development demonstrates the commitment of the state government to strengthening tertiary education and aligning the college with the guidelines of the National Commission for Colleges of Education for the concurrent award of NCE and Degree certificates.

Asabe gave the commendation while addressing staff and stakeholders of the College, describing the development as a major milestone in enhancing the academic and professional capacity of the institution.

She noted that the support and commitment demonstrated by the State Government and the State Assembly reflect their determination to reposition tertiary education in Bauchi State in line with national and global best practices.

The provost explained that the implementation of the dual mandate would strengthen the College’s capacity to combine academic excellence with professional teacher training responsibilities, thereby improving service delivery and institutional development.

She also appreciated the Bauchi State House of Assembly for its legislative support and cooperation toward the successful consideration of the bill.

According to her, the House Committee on education equally acknowledged the support and cooperation extended by the College of Education, Zing during the review process of the proposed law.

Prof. Asabe further praised Governor Bala Mohammed for his administration’s sustained support to the education sector, particularly in accreditation, infrastructure development, staff welfare, and institutional reforms.

She revealed that the College has secured full accreditation for its 27 NCE programmes and 13 undergraduate programmes affiliated with University of Maiduguri.
