Committee Returns Stolen Animals To Owners In Kebbi

The committee set up by the Kebbi State government on the recovery of stolen livestock has returned 19 stolen cows to their owners.

This was confirmed to journalists by the permanent secretary, Ministry of Livestock Development and Fisheries, Ramatu Usman Dabai, in Birnin Kebbi.

She said the committee has invited 10 claimants for screening to ensure they are the real owners of the stolen cows.

According to her, the screening excercise is to ensure transparency and the return of the livestock to their rightful owners.

She said the recovery of these animals was done by the committee together with the security team set up under the leadership of governor, Nasir Idris, who has shown unwavering commitment to securing the lives and properties of people in the state.

“The screening committee consists of policemen, officials from DSS, NSCDC, Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs as well as Ministry of Justice respectively,  ” she added.

One of the recovered livestock owners, Abubakar Liman from Bunza local government said he was able to recover five of his stolen animals from the committee after the screening.

He thanked the state government for constituting the committee which he described as a welcome development.
