Natives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have called on the 10th National Assembly to consider the plight of the original inhabitants and residents of Abuja as they legislate and make laws for Nigerians.
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Alhaji Yahaya Santali, who made the call on behalf of the natives in a press statement, said that the people of FCT are expecting the present administration to come up with laws that will enhance and improve their well-being.
Santali said that since the House of Representatives is the statutory legislative chamber that legislates for the people of the territory, the expectation of FCT natives is seriously on the legislators.
He also congratulated the former minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio over his emergence as the Senate President and Hon Tajudeen Abbas who was elected as the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The APC chieftain described them as worthy legislators that rightly deserved the confidence and trust of their colleagues to lead them at the 10th Assembly.
He urged them to do everything possible within their disposal to justify the trust and confidence reposed in them in discharging their legislative functions.
Santali further said that they should ensure that not only their colleagues they should focus on, but lead the National Assembly to come up with qualitative laws that will enhance abundant life for the people of Nigeria.
While commenting on the capacity and competence of the two leaders, he urged them to work closely and cooperate with President Bola Tinubu to enable him to implement all the projects and policies encapsulated in his Renewed Hope agenda for the people of Nigeria.
