Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Lagos State Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court has remanded a man, Onyeka Mbaka, at the Kirikiri Centre of the Nigerian Correctional Service for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old girl.
Justice Oshodi sent Mbaka behind bars pending the hearing of his bail application and commencement of trial.
The defendant, whose residential address was not given, is being prosecuted by the Lagos State government for a one-count charge.

He, however, pleaded not guilty.
Following his not-guilty plea, the state counsel, Ms Bukola Okeowo, prayed the court to remand the defendant accordingly.

Okeowo had told the court that the prosecution intends to call three witnesses to prove the charge against the defendant.

She said that the defendant committed the offence sometime in March 2023 at no 16 Moshalasi Street, in the Ilasa area of Lagos.

According to her, the offence contravened section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.
The judge adjourned the case until March 22 for trial.
