Popular socialite and businessman, Cubana Chief Priest, has lost the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency seat in Imo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The nightlife promoter and Imo State Coordinator of the City Boys Movement had joined the race seeking the party’s ticket to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives.
Cubana Chief Priest, whose real name is Pascal Okechukwu, had earlier purchased the APC expression of interest and nomination forms, describing his ambition as part of efforts to promote youth empowerment, grassroots development and greater political participation among young people in the constituency.
His entrance into partisan politics generated widespread reactions across Imo State and on social media, with supporters pointing to his philanthropic activities and influence among youths as major strengths.
However, some critics questioned his political experience and preparedness for legislative duties, insisting that popularity in the entertainment and hospitality industry may not necessarily translate into electoral success.
The APC primary election, conducted on Saturday as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections, ended with the socialite failing to secure the party’s nomination for the federal constituency seat.
Details of the final vote tally and the identity of the winning aspirant were still being awaited at the time of filing this report.
