Cunha Brace Fires Brazil Past Haiti To Tighten Grip On Group C

Brazil produced a devastating first-half display to cruise to a 3-0 victory over Haiti in their FIFA World Cup 2026 Group C encounter, with Matheus Cunha scoring twice as the South Americans moved a step closer to the knockout stages.

The five-time world champions settled quickly and dominated proceedings from the outset, overwhelming Haiti with their pace, movement and attacking quality.

Haiti’s problems began early when defender Carlens Arcus was booked in the fourth minute as Brazil piled on the pressure. The breakthrough eventually arrived in the 23rd minute when Cunha finished confidently to put Brazil ahead.

The striker doubled Brazil’s advantage 13 minutes later, turning home a fine assist from Vinícius Júnior to leave Haiti with a mountain to climb.

Brazil effectively killed off the contest in first-half stoppage time. Lucas Paquetá provided the final pass and Vinícius Júnior made no mistake, firing home in the 45th minute plus three minutes to send the Seleção into the interval with a commanding 3-0 lead.

Haiti’s frustrations were evident when Frantzdy Pierrot entered the referee’s notebook moments before the break, while Brazil continued to control possession and territory after the restart.

With the result largely beyond doubt, the second half produced fewer clear-cut opportunities. Brazil comfortably managed the game, though defender Danilo Santos was cautioned in the 65th minute before Haiti’s Djimy-Jacques Jacques also received a yellow card seven minutes later.

Despite a spirited effort from the Caribbean side, Haiti struggled to create meaningful chances against a disciplined Brazilian defence.

The victory gives Brazil a significant boost in Group C after their opening draw against Morocco, while Haiti remain without a point and face an uphill battle to keep their World Cup hopes alive.

Cunha’s clinical double and Vinícius Júnior’s influential display underlined Brazil’s attacking credentials as they strengthened their bid for a place in the Round of 32. With four points from two matches, the Seleção will head into their final group fixture full of confidence, while Haiti must now regroup quickly to avoid an early exit from the tournament.
