FC Banik Ostrava have proudly celebrated their young defender Abdullahi Bewene following his maiden appearance for Nigeria’s senior national team, the Super Eagles.

The 21-year-old, who was a late addition to Éric Chelle’s squad after several key players withdrew from the friendly fixture, earned his first cap in Wednesday’s thrilling 2-2 draw against Poland at the PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw.

Despite not being part of the original roster, the former Golden Eaglets star seized his opportunity with both hands.

Fans and analysts were quick to praise his composed and energetic display throughout the full 90 minutes of the fiercely contested encounter.

Banik Ostrava took to their official X account to acknowledge Bewene’s milestone, posting:

“Abdullahi Bewene made his debut for the Nigerian national team on Wednesday. He played the entire match against Poland in Warsaw, with the friendly ending 2-2.”

The post drew enthusiastic responses from supporters of both the Czech club and the Super Eagles, many of whom hailed the youngster’s seamless transition to international football.

In his first comments after the match, Bewene expressed immense pride in representing Nigeria and promised to build on his debut performance.

“I’m very happy and proud to represent my country. I’m ready to give even more than this. When I’m on the pitch, I forget everything and just give my all,” he said.

“There are millions of people back home counting on me. I have to make them happy. And I have to make myself happy too.”
