Some defected Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members in Suru local government areas and other councils in Kebbi State have pledged support for the re-election of Governor Nasir Idris in 2027.

Led by the party’s stalwart and brother to the former governor of the state, Saidu Nasamu Dakingari, Lawali Na-Malam Dakingari, they declared their position at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi.

Dakingari informed the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by Idris, that they left the PDP after 27 years to join the APC due to his administration’s development strides in two years.

He said, “ Your Excellency, we have joined your party (APC) because we believe in your sincerity, justice, unity and inclusion of everybody.

“More supporters who are with us but could not attend this formal declaration of your endorsement for 2027 will soon join us in the APC,” he added.

He said their members were drawn not only from Suru council but across the 21 local government areas of the state.

While acknowledging their decision, Governor Idris assured them of equal treatment and directed APC leaders and supporters to work collectively to mobilise the electorate to support the continuity of the present administration.

“Today, we are one family, there are no old or new members in the APC and by God’s grace, we will continue to work together to deepen peace, strengthen security and deliver more dividends of democracy to the people of Kebbi State,” Idris said.
