Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, CON, has directed all political office holders serving in his administration who have publicly declared allegiance to, or defected to, other political parties to immediately resign their appointments.

Governor Fintiri stated that the directive became necessary to preserve loyalty, discipline, and the integrity of public service within the administration.

According to the Governor, political appointees are expected to uphold the policies, programmes, and political direction of the government under which they serve.

He warned that continued service by individuals who have aligned with other political parties poses a serious risk of sabotage, information leakage, and obstruction of government policies and party strategies.

The Governor therefore directed all affected appointees to submit their resignation letters to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government within 48 hours of the directive.

In addition, the Office of the Secretary to the State Government and the Office of the Head of Service have been mandated to compile, verify, and submit a comprehensive list of all affected political appointees for compliance monitoring.

Governor Fintiri further warned that failure to comply within the stipulated timeframe would result in immediate termination of appointment, cessation of salaries, entitlements, and benefits, alongside further administrative actions.

“This is a clear message that public office is held in trust and must align with the vision, agenda, and mandate of the administration. Government cannot condone divided loyalty in the discharge of public trust,” the Governor stated.

The directive takes immediate effect.
