Scheduled for Thursday, December 25, 2025, the carnival kicks off at 2 p.m. and runs into the evening, drawing indigenes and visitors to the festive hub of Ogwashi-Uku.

The convener of Ogwashi-Uku Carnival, Anthonia Oguah, described the event as “the most explosive cultural celebration in Delta during the Yuletide,” bringing together families and friends in an atmosphere of music, dance, and creativity.

One of the highlights of this year’s edition will be the carnival costume competition, in which participants will wear colourful and imaginative outfits for a chance to win prizes.

Beyond the entertainment, the carnival has been repositioned as a platform for cultural diplomacy and community branding. With the theme “Promoting the Image of Ogwashi-Uku Through Culture and Dance,” the organisers say the event will spotlight the town’s heritage while fostering unity and tourism.

“Over the years, the carnival has become a major cultural movement in Delta. It is not just a parade of costumes and dance, but an opportunity to project the vibrancy of our people,” one of the organisers said.
