A part breakdown of the number of the petition reveals that Social Democratic Party, (SDP) candidate, Olorogun Kennet Gbagi, his Labour Party counterpart, Ken Pella are challenging the declaration of Hon Sheriff Oborevwori of Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) as governor-elect for Delta State.

In Delta North Senatorial Zone, Hon Peter Nwaoboshi of All Progressive Congress, (APC) is challenging the declaration of Hon Ned Nwoko of PDP as Senator-elect for the zone, while in Delta Central, Hon Ighoyota Amori of PDP is challenging the declaration of Chief Ede Dafinone of APC as Senator-elect. In Delta South, George Timinimi of All Progressives Grand Alliance, (APGA) is challenging the election of Hon Joe Onowakpor as senator-elect.

The secretary of the Election Petitions Tribunal, Delta State, Okedara Adejoke, said while filing of petitions for the National Assembly election has elapsed, that of the governorship and state assembly election is still on till next month for aggrieved candidates.

“They have 21 days to file petitions. The day start counting from the day the result of the election is announced and the winner declared. Winner was declared 22nd March, 2023, so add 21 days to it. May be that is why those aggrieved are not in a hurry to submit petitions except motions,” she stated.
