Onoriode Oborevwori, Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, announced this during a press briefing, conveying the Governor’s commitment to rewarding excellence in sports.

The Governor emphasised that these rewards are not only a recognition of past achievements but also an encouragement for future competitions. He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to the welfare of athletes and to maintaining Delta’s prominent status in sports development throughout Nigeria.

Under the reward package, gold medalists received N1,000, 000, silver medalists were awarded N500, 000 and bronze medalists were given N250, 000.

Additionally, there were incentives for the officials who contributed to Team Delta’s historic success.

He highlighted the team’s remarkable track record, noting that Delta has won the National Sports Festival seven times consecutively—a feat unmatched in the country’s sporting history.

“Team Delta reaffirmed its dominance in Nigerian sports by emerging overall champions of the Games with an impressive tally of 126 gold, 100 silver, and 111 bronze medals, totalling 332 medals,” he said. “Their remarkable achievements reflect not only talent but also discipline, hard work, and resilience.”
