The Northern Christian Youth Professionals (NCYP) has condemned the killing of 16 soldiers of the Nigerian Army by youths of Okuama community in Ughelli South local government area of Delta State.

The group however cautioned the military against revenge, insisting that justice must be served to honour the sacrifices of the brave servicemen and women who were murdered.

In a statement issued by the chairman Northern Christian Youth Professionals, Isaac Abrak, urged the Nigerian Army to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into the incident, ensuring that justice is pursued professionally and without harming innocent civilians.

“Our hearts go out to the families of the fallen soldiers, and we stand in solidarity with the Nigerian Army during this time of mourning.

“We call for the swift identification and prosecution of those responsible for this heinous act,” it said.

The statement said, “History has shown that heavy-handed responses can exacerbate tensions and hinder military and public cooperation.”
