Political appointees from Southern Kaduna have undertaken an inspection tour of ongoing developmental projects in the region and applauded Governor Uba Sani for his administration’s dedication to infrastructure and economic development across Senatorial districts.

The Government officials include key figures such as Dr James Kanyip, Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs; Mr Jerry Adams, Executive Chairman of Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS); Dr Abdullahi Baba-Ahmed, Managing Director of Kaduna State Roads Agency; and Mr Peter Dogara, Chairman of Jema’a Local Government among others.

The projects inspected include the 20-kilometre Ungwan Rimi-NEPA Roundabout road in Kafanchan, which began rehabilitation in 2020 but had been delayed, with over half the work still pending. The 22-kilometre Gwantu-Godogodo road and the skills acquisition centre in Samaru, Zango-Kataf Local Government Area were other projects reviewed.

Dr. Kanyip emphasised the government’s commitment to completing the projects, stating that they are critical to improving residents’ lives. He commended Governor Uba Sani for focusing on initiatives that would enhance the region’s economic activities and living standards.

Speaking about the Kafanchan township road project, Kanyip noted its significance in providing better access for residents, particularly during festive periods. “Governor Sani’s administration has brought much-needed progress to Southern Kaduna, and these projects will greatly improve mobility and commerce in the area,” he said.

Kanyip also highlighted the skills acquisition centre’s importance in empowering local youths and creating economic opportunities. He pointed to the recent inauguration of a modern science school in Manchok as further evidence of the administration’s commitment to advancing education in the region.

Mr Adams, on his part, expressed satisfaction with the infrastructural development across the state, attributing the progress to taxpayers’ compliance. “These achievements are only possible because of taxpayers’ support,” he said, urging residents to continue fulfilling their civic responsibilities to enable further growth.

Dr Baba-Ahmed gave updates on the Ungwan Rimi-NEPA Roundabout road rehabilitation, explaining that the project had stalled due to funding constraints. He noted that the current administration had revised the project’s cost from N13 billion to N9.3 billion and allocated funds to expedite its completion.

Ahmed also disclosed plans for additional road projects in the region, including the 22.8-kilometre road connecting Madauchi to Kafanchan through Madakiya and another connecting Kibam to Godogodo, complete with two major bridges. He acknowledged the financial challenges inherited from previous administrations but reiterated the government’s determination to complete key infrastructure projects.

He called on political leaders and citizens to support the ongoing development efforts, emphasising that collaborative efforts are essential to achieving a thriving economy and improved opportunities for the people of Southern Kaduna.
