Moniepoint Inc., Africa’s leading digital financial services provider, is doubling down on its commitment to empowering Africa’s next generation of tech leaders through its DreamDevs Bootcamp, a transformative initiative designed to fast-track Nigeria’s tech talent pipeline.

Created to nurture exceptional young minds across the continent, DreamDevs targets recent graduates in technology, computer science, engineering, and related fields who possess a foundation in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The program offers a rigorous nine-week training experience, combining hands-on mentorship from leading software engineers with real-world product development opportunities that impact millions.

As Nigeria’s digital economy continues its impressive trajectory—with the ICT sector contributing 18 percent to the nation’s GDP in 2024—the need for homegrown tech talent has never been more urgent.

Globally, an estimated 4.5 million tech jobs remain unfilled, and demand continues to surge. DreamDevs is Moniepoint’s strategic response to this growing skills gap, building a workforce equipped to meet both local and global demands.

The program officially kicked off with a competitive hackathon, which saw 20 standout graduates earn their place in the bootcamp. Over the next nine weeks, participants will be immersed in modules including Java Refresher, Google Cloud Platform, Kafka Fundamentals, Machine Learning/AI on Google Cloud, and Advanced Java. By the end of the bootcamp, high-performing participants will have the chance to secure internships—and potentially full-time roles—with Moniepoint, advancing their careers and strengthening Nigeria’s digital workforce.

Moniepoint Inc. co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, Felix Ike, while speaking with newsmen in Lagos, emphasized the company’s long-term vision, adding that investing in young talent is crucial for driving technological advancement across the continent.

DreamDevs isn’t just about training; it’s about creating a launchpad for ambitious graduates to shape Africa’s tech future. We have always envisioned a transformative approach to technology—one that powers the dreams of millions and engineers financial happiness. DreamDevs delivers practical experience, upskilling, startup incubation, and product development support to ensure participants emerge as industry-ready professionals contributing meaningfully to Nigeria’s digital economy,” Ike added.

DreamDevs aligns with and complements the Nigerian government’s 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, which targets the creation of two million digital jobs by 2025. Together, these initiatives are laying the groundwork for Nigeria to become a global exporter of tech talent.

Moniepoint is no stranger to investing in digital skills. Previous programs such as HatchDev, a nine-month developer training collaboration with NITHub Unilag, and the company’s well-received Women in Tech initiative have proven Moniepoint’s dedication to building a digitally empowered Africa. As DreamDevs takes flight, it underscores Moniepoint’s enduring role as a catalyst for tech innovation—one that’s not only bridging the skills gap, but also powering Africa’s digital future.
