Speaking at the launch of the EcoNexus Initiative, which has the theme Pioneering a Sustainable Future for Lagos, Mrs Oshodi disclosed that the purpose-driven initiative demonstrates how the circular economy is supporting not only environmental sustainability but also the broader goals of the state government’s THEMES ++ agenda.

She noted that the event is all about harnessing the power of collaboration with private sectors and entrepreneurs.

Oshodi affirmed that it drives social inclusion, economic growth, and technological advancement, aligning with Lagos State’s vision of making work more impactful.

She said, “At ECONexus, we aim to catalyse connections across sectors, aligning public policy with private-sector innovation. By working together, we can shape a scalable economic model that is sustainable, resilient, and adaptable to the socio-economic and cultural shifts happening around us.”

She emphasised that the potential lies in the international carbon markets, where sustainable projects benefit the environment and deliver actual financial returns.

“And this is why I am particularly excited to unveil the Economy Business Network. This dynamic network connects like-minded entrepreneurs and businesses, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing that strengthens our collective pursuit of a sustainable future. We have over 400 members in this network, all committed to making a difference,” she added.

In his address, Lagos State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Hon. Ope George, said, “This marks a new chapter for Lagos as the platform is designed to streamline circular economy efforts, eliminate redundancies, and establish a coordinated resource management and waste recovery system.

He added, “By centralising these efforts, we aim to maximise resources and ensure each initiative significantly contributes to our shared objectives and Key Pillars of EcoNexus.”
