Ekiti state Ministry of Education said it has identified strategies for the creation of learning environments to foster academic excellence and inclusivity.

The Director, Educational Planning Research and Development of the ministry, Mrs. Obianuju Anigbogu  who stated this highlighted the importance of leveraging technology, data-driven decision-making, and adaptive leadership.

She spoke while declaring open the workshop a capacity building workshop organised by the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) in conjunction with the Universal Basic Education Commission on Effective School Management in the 21st Century.

The Director also outlined reforms in the education sector, including the development of a 4-year Strategic Plan and comprehensive policies such as DOTS, aimed at connecting all aspects of the education system to prepare students for success in the 21st century.

This came as the Acting Director General/Chief Executive of the National Institute for Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) Dr. David Adebiyi Shofoyeke welcomed participants to a workshop on Effective School Management in the 21st Century.

Shofoyeke in his welcome address stressed the importance of education in national development and social change.

The NIEPA DG decried that challenges, which include poor reading culture and mathematics skills, high dropout rates, low transition and completion rates persist despite various efforts at  improving basic education,

Shofoyeke, however, assured the participants that the workshop was designed to address these challenges by exposing participants to topical issues such as effective school management, instructional leadership, school culture, and stress management.

A statement made available to newsmen said that the 5-day event held  at Sa’abhi Hotel, Mararaba in Nasarawa state had in attendance head teachers, education officers, and principals from across the three geo-political zones in northern part of Nigeria, empowering them with the knowledge and skills to excel in school management.

He informed the gathering that the workshop in Mararaba, Nasarawa state was taking place simultaneously in Kano and Gombe states respectively.
