Ekiti State government has assured the people of the state of its readiness to implement more development projects this year.
It appealed to the residents of the state to stop dumping refuse on the roads and other unauthorised places.
The state commissioner for information, Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, said the Governor Biodun Oyebanji-led administration had been touching the six-pillar agenda of the government in fulfilment of his campaign promises.
Olatunbosun who featured on the “Personality Roundtable” of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Correspondents’ Chapel, Ekiti State Council, said the projects were being handled speedily.
He said an independent power project had been inaugurated to provide electricity for government establishments and some private concerns for efficient services.
“It is a Public Private Partnership arrangement of 3.6 kilowatts, which will serve some government institutions, such as Ekiti State University, government offices, Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), etc.”
On sanitation and waste management in the state, he said, “We have some challenges in areas like Ado, picking up of refuse particularly those arbitrary dumped in the middle of the road.
“It’s very important that we realise that as much as the overnment has responsibility to the people, the people also have a lot of things to do. Even when we provide waste bins, people will still not use them, even in the state capital. But, there has been an improvement, the government is doing everything to ensure that we sanitise Ado Ekiti and other parts of the state.
Olatunbosun revealed that the government has concluded plans to place 20 Dino bins and trucks in strategic places to address the situation.
On why experts were brought from Lagos state to produce Dino Bins, he said it was to transfer technology in line with the local content law of the state government.
