Coalitions under the auspices of Southern Kaduna Renaissance and Southern Kaduna Progressive Minds have declared full support for the ongoing probe and investigation of former Kaduna state governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and Department of State Services, DSS.

The groups said El-Rufai is not above the law as he must be probed and prosecuted if found guilty.

Addressing a news conference in Kafanchan, leader of the coalition Southern Kaduna Renaissance, Gideon Mutum, said it was demanding full prosecution of El-Rufai if any wrong doing is established.

Mutum also said intercepting the communications of the National Security Adviser (NSA) constitutes a threat to national security, hence the need to thoroughly investigate El-Rufai’s recent claim on national Television.

Also, leaders of Southern Kaduna Progressive Minds led by its Chairman, Jehu Dogo, and Secretary, Najib Mohammed, who led it group anti-El-Rufai protest said the Southern Kaduna region will not stand with former governor El-Rufai.

The group while describing the recent pro-El-Rufai’s protest by some people in Southern Kaduna as “misplaced and politically motivated,” insisted that it did not reflect the will or position of the people of Southern Kaduna.

“It is unreasonable to stage a protest in Southern Kaduna over investigations being conducted by federal institutions carrying out their constitutional responsibilities,” the group said.

“No individual, regardless of status or former office, is above the law. Accountability and due process must be allowed to run their full course,” the group maintained.

While affirming that peaceful protest remains a constitutional right, the coalition cautioned against what it described as attempts to drag Southern Kaduna into “externally driven political schemes.”

The coalition also commended the administration of Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, for promoting inclusive governance and equitable development across the state, particularly in Southern Kaduna.
