Nigerian actor Emeka Ike sparked widespread online reactions after appearing at a protest in Abuja on Thursday, June 11, 2026.

The demonstration, tagged “Tinubu Must Go,” was led by activist VeryDarkMan and other campaigners.

In a viral video from the protest, Emeka Ike expressed concern over worsening insecurity in the country. He said fear has taken over major highways. He warned that many Nigerians can no longer travel safely by road.

The actor also made an emotional appeal to the government. He urged stronger action against banditry, kidnapping and violent crime across the country.

He further lamented that road travel, once a common and preferred option for Nigerians, has now become risky due to repeated attacks.

He said:

“I love travelling by road, but today I am denied that freedom. So many Nigerians love travelling by road, but we are no longer safe. We are begging the government, please don’t let this go too far. It might be your children tomorrow. Our children may not be there today, but somebody’s child is there. Please, let’s stop this killing. Let’s stop bandits from taking over our country.”

The actor warned that rising insecurity could put the country’s future at risk.

He said the situation must be addressed quickly to prevent further damage.

His comments have since sparked reactions from Nigerians. Some of the responses are highlighted below.

@BOGER011 commented:

@Official_Oye said: “Everybody just want to show themselves. So If VDM doesn’t come out to do this, they won’t do it?”
