The Netflix series ‘Emily In Paris’ star, Lily Collins, is set to play the role of late legendary actress and Oscar winner, Audrey Hepburn, in the long-awaited movie narrating the story behind the making of ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’, a 1961 romantic comedy.
The actress who played the role of Emily Cooper in the acclaimed Netflix series took to her Instagram post to say, “It’s with almost 10 years of development and a lifetime of admiration and adoration for Audrey that I’m finally able to share this,” she wrote. “Honoured and ecstatic don’t begin to express how I feel.”
The new film is based on Sam Wasson’s New York best-selling book ‘Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.: Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and the Dawn of the Modern Woman.’ Alena Smith, the creator of the Hailee Steinfeld-led Apple series Dickinson, writes the screenplay.
‘Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.’ is reported as a comprehensive narrative of the making of the vintage film. The book features the story of the movie’s production, including the roles of Breakfast at Tiffany’s writer Truman Capote, Audrey Hepburn, costume designer Edith Head, and director Blake Edwards.
Hepburn, who died at 63 in 1993, costarred with George Peppard in the film, which lets us into the life of Holly Golightly, played by Hepburn, who falls in love with Paul Varjak, played by Peppard, after he moves into the same New York City apartment building where she lives.
The movie won two Academy Awards in 1962. ‘Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.’ shows everything from the preproduction, in which Capote allegedly wanted Marilyn Monroe to play Holly Golightly and felt betrayed that the studio Paramount cast Hepburn instead.
Collin’s apparent resemblance to Hepburn has sparked rumours that she is related to the late actress, even though she is not. Her father-in-law, Malcolm McDowell, told the media in 2024 that the ‘Emily In Paris’ actress has “got that Audrey Hepburn kind of thing going, which is indefinable in a way, but it’s there.”
